Math 120 : Introductory Calculus I

Course Text:  Single Variable Calculus, Early Transcendental Functions, 6th Ed. by Stewart, Brookes/Cole 2008

Lecture:    Section 002   (4)     MWF 10:00-10:50 AM Bell 308 and Tuesday 10:50-12:05 PM, MAYBANK HALL (MYBK) 112

Course Description: (4) The techniques of calculus will be stressed. Topics include functions, limits and continuity, derivatives, the Mean Value theorem, applications of derivatives, the Riemann integral, application of the integral, the fundamental theorem of integral calculus, and logarithmic and exponential functions.

Prerequisite: MATH 111 or placement.

Calculator: Portions of the exams and homework may require a graphing calculator such as the TI-86.

Last day for students to withdraw with a W from Fall semester classes:   Tuesday, October 7

Fall Break:  October 13, 14

Thanksgiving Break:  November 26-28

Midterm exams:  Monday September 15,  Friday October 17,  and Monday November 10.

Final Exam :  There will be a common final on Wednesday, December 17, 8:00-11:00 A.M. (Bell 308) .

Note:  Make up tests will be given only under extraordinary circumstances.  If you miss an exam, you must obtain a written excuse from the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Grading Policy:  There will be three midterms on:  Monday September 15,  Friday October 17,  and Monday November 10.  Each midterm will be worth 15%, the final will be worth 40% and the homework 15%.   The lower bound percentages for the various grades are given below:
