Directions and Parking Information for  the Southeast Geometry Conference:

To the Campus by Car:

From Highway I-26: One of the most common routes into Charleston is interstate I-26. Take I-26 East until it ends in Charleston. Take exit 221B (Meeting Street/Visitor's Center), and turn right at the end of the ramp onto southbound Meeting Street.   Then follow directions given below to the conference, Barksdale Inn, or Faculty Houses.

From Highway 17: If coming in to Charleston on Highway 17 southbound, proceed onto I-26 eastbound after crossing the Ravenel Bridge, and follow the I-26 directions.  If coming in on Highway 17 northbound, follow signs to Calhoun Street, and proceed east on Calhoun Street until you pass the College Library.   Now you are on the map; proceed to either of the parking garages on St. Philip St, or the Barksdale Inn or Faculty Houses.  (Beware that Coming Street is one-way northbound, while King St. and St. Philip St. are one-way southbound, south of Calhoun.)

To the conference: Heading south on Meeting Street, you will reach a large park on your right.  This is Marion Square, shown on the mapTurn right onto Calhoun Street, and proceed two blocks, past the major intersection with King St.,  until you get to St. Philip St.
    You can park in one of two garages on campus: either one half block right (north) on St. Philip St., or three blocks south on St. Philip between Wentworth and Beaufain.  These garages charge by the hour, with a daily maximum of $8.  There are also two lots where you can park for free on the weekend:
  • Gloria Lot, which rarely has open spaces, is located on George St. between St. Philip and King;
  • K Lot, which often has open spaces, is located at Calhoun and Coming St. (one block west of St. Philip), with the entrance off of Coming St.
   The conference venue is room 207 in the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship, on Liberty St., between King and St. Philip.  (The Tate Center is entered by way of the Beatty Center, which was a multi-storey glass-covered lobby.  The Tate Center is up the staircase at the front of the lobby, on the second floor to the right.)

To the Barksdale Inn: Heading south on Meeting Street, proceed one block past Marion Square Park, and turn right onto George Street (see the map).  The Barksdale Inn is in the middle of the block, on your left.

To the Faculty Houses:  Heading south on Meeting Street, proceed three blocks past Marion Square Park, and turn right onto Wentworth St.  Go three blocks, and you will see a large white church complex on your right.  Make a right turn before that church, onto Glebe St.  The Faculty Houses are located at #12 and #20 Glebe St, and carriage house is at #16½ Glebe.  Those who have cars and are staying at the Faculty House will be at #12, the second brick house on the right, with steps from the street up to a second-storey entrance; you can park in the driveway on the porch side of the house.

By Plane:

The Charleston Airport is located just north of Charleston. There are shuttles there that will take you any local destination. (For instance, they can take you directly to the conference on Liberty Street, to the Days Inn on Meeting Street, to the Barksdale House on George Street, or to the faculty houses on Glebe Street.) The shuttles depart every 15-20 minutes, and are $12 per person.  You can also take a taxi to these destinations, which will cost between $25 and $30.
