High Order Schemes for Adaptive Mesh Refinement (Jude Worthy,
UNC-Chapel Hill)
Abstract:
We look at combining two powerful techniques for large scale
simulations, namely adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) and high order
numerical schemes. These are developed with the particular goal of
large oceanographic simulations. Compact schemes as well as hybrid
compact/ENO/WENO schemes are
considered. A general method for solving multidimensional nonlinear
problems is given for the finite volume formulation. Basic test cases
demonstrate the capability of these methods.
