Parameter Estimation: Concept and Example (Amal El Moghraby,
UNC-Chapel Hill)
Abstract:
If two passive tracers are launched sufficiently close in an Eulerian
field, the fate of these tracers might be very dissimilar: each ending
up in a different dynamical region. The goal of this study is to show
that such tracers will carry different Lagrangian information but when
assimilated will recover similar Eulerian fields. The mathematical
tool we will use for this study is parameter estimation and the system
we will
examine is the Rossby wave.
